Understand what Dandruff is and How it is caused?
Dandruff refers to dry, white flakes of skin that you brush off your collar or shoulders. It is nothing but the shedding of shedding of dead skin cells from your scalp. Although it is harmless in nature, dandruff can be embarrassing and irritatingly itchy. Research has shown that dandruff is a very common scalp disorder that affects a large chunk of population who have achieved the age of puberty, of any gender, and ethnicity. The main problem is that your skin cells grow and die too quickly.
A highly common fungus called malassezia is stated to be the one of the leading causes of dandruff. This fungus lives on the scalp of most of the healthy adults without posing any major problems. Research has shown that keratinocytes play a vital role in the expression and generation of immunological reactions during the process of dandruff formation. How severe the effect of dandruff could be on your scalp depends largely on the season. Dandruff often tends to worsen during winter. Dandruff is generally very rare before one attains their puberty, and it tends to peak when you are in your teens and early twenties. However, the good news is that, dandruff tends to reduce with age.
