Symptoms of Alopecia
Alopecia cannot be regarded as a serious medical disorder. However, it does make a difference to a person’s confidence and personality. Most of the times, it is also referred as spot baldness, and usually begins when clumps of hair fall out resulting into totally smooth, bald patch. A person can get affected with Alopecia due to varied reasons. These reasons include deficiency of vitamins, family history, hormonal changes, stress or auto-immune disease.
Alopecia can cause different types of hair loss. Each of these have a different name:
• Alopecia Areata (hair loss in patches)
• Alopecia Totalis (total hair loss on the scalp)
• Alopecia Universalis (hair loss all over the body)
It is often seen that one in five people have a family member who suffers from Alopecia. It often develops suddenly over a period of time, that can be cured completely but treated and controlled. The most common symptom of Alopecia is patchy hair loss. This hair loss could be sudden or might develop gradually with passing days. Apart from this, there are the other symptoms of Alopecia:
• Appearance of white spot and lines
• Nails become rough
• Nails start losing lustre
• Regrowth of white hair on the areas already affected by hair loss
• Short hair that start getting narrower at the end
