Pain that originates from outside the ear is called otalgia. There are two types – primary and secondary. It is common children, with children below 5 years at a risk if they are also suffering from respiratory problems.
Causes:

• Ear infections – outer, inner and middle
• Airplane pressure
• A perforated eardrum
• Excess earwax
• Dental problems

Symptoms:

• Ear pain
• Impaired hearing
• Fluid drainage
• Sense of fullness in the ear
