What is PCOD?
PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease) is one of the commonest causes of infertility. It can cause problems with a women’s menstrual cycle, fertility, cardiac function, and appearance. Patients have multiple small cysts in their ovaries that occur when the regular changes of a normal menstrual cycle are disrupted. PCOD is associated with irregular menstrual cycle, abnormal hair growth or loss, abnormal obesity, hormonal imbalance, dark skin patches on the neck and arms, and insulin resistance.
